Solar Powered Lux
Solar Powered Lux (soap):
If we just leap into its history. The brand was founded by the firm Lever Brothers, now known as Unilever, in 1899. The name changed from "Sunlight Flakes" to "Lux". Started as a laundry product and now became the world's first toilet soap with the tagline, Made as fine as French Soap. It was first introduced in United States in 1925 and United Kingdom in 1928. And subsequently, Lux soap has been marketed in several forms, including hand wash, shower gel and cream bath soap. This is a little about Lux.
Now Lux Industries Limited has shifted to solar energy in its Dankuni, the industrial city near Kolkata.
Invested Rs 5 crore, with an expectation of 40-50% cut down, on electricity cost. Based on the returns of Dankuni's plant, they plan to set up solar units at its branches in Tirupur, Roorkee, Delhi and Ludhiana.
